This website has been organised by local residents and organisations from St Pauls, Montpelier, Kingsdown, and Cotham supported by Bristol City Council.
We have a Stakeholder Group that is open to anyone interested in the future of the Carriageworks and Westmoreland House. The Stakeholder Group meets roughly every month to discuss the overall direction of the campaign. Some people work for or are involved in local organisations including St Pauls Unlimited, Transition Montpelier, Kingsdown Conservation Group, Peoples Republic of Stokes Croft and Dove St Action Group.
Then there is a Contact Group. This is working on the details of the process for writing the Community Vision. Members of the Group are: Pete Bullard, Simon Lewis, Ben Appleby, Delroy Hibbert, and Lori Streich. Representatives of the City Council are Jan Reichel and Jawahar de Souza. Consultation faciltators are Julian Mellor and Hugh Nettelfield from 2MD Regeneration Ltd.
From January 2012 the Carriageworks Action Group will have two roles:
- to own the Community Vision and promote it for the community
- to maintain contact with the local community, local stakeholders, the site owners, the City Council, and anyone else with an interest in the site.
It will be an inclusive partnership forum, open to anyone with an interest in the development of the site. This may include individual or groups with commercial interest in the site, and there will be a process for dealing with conflicts of interest. The Carriageworks Action Group will not be involved with any commercial decisions about the development.
Meeting dates will be posted on the front page of the Carriagewroks website and e-mailed to people with an interest in the development of the site.
The Carriageworks Action Group Liaison Group will act as a sounding board for Bristol City Council (BCC) in relation to the inclusion of the Vision in the development process, and as a point of contact between BCC and the Carriageworks Action Group. This is important because although BCC has no land interest or responsibility in the property it has made a decision to facilitate early regeneration of the site.
There will be a maximum of 6 members of the Liaison Group, including the Project Manager from BCC. Members of the Liaison Group must have no potential or actual commercial interests in the development of the site. In February 2012 its members are Lori Streich, Pete Bullard and Prue Hardwick.
